This standard specifies terms and definitions, the principle of test, symbols and designations, test pieces, testing apparatus, conditions of testing, determinations of properties, rounding of results and test report for uniaxial compression tests of metallic materials at room temperature. This standard is applicable to determine proof strength-plastic compression, proof strength-total compression, upper compression yield strength, lower compression yield strength, compression modulus of elasticity and compression strength by uniaxial compression at room temperature.
